The Telling Stones

This is a compelling read. Short chapters, each a separate story with intriguing characters and told with an economy of words that is both unusual and somehow, oddly, evocative. It's as if Riktam himself is a shadow within the anecdotes....which of course makes sense by the time you come to The Mad Bastard's Guide. There is no Riktam any more. He was talked down into the 'vast nothing' by Isaac Shapiro. Sometimes I didn't get what was being said on first reading and had to look again....and it was always worth the effort. There is here a depth of original expression that marks out this writer as not an ordinary man.

A Real Gem

The Telling Stones is a real Gem. The unfolding of one mans journey from the 60's counter culture into present day and awakening was an absorbing and compelling book. A well written book that takes the reader into a realm that feels like the experience is the readers own. Beautiful, tender moments interspersed with frank descriptive language gives color to the narrative.
