I just want to say that this book is great! Out of all the physics books I bought for my advanced level course this book was the most useful. This book has the essential topics, neatly organized and made simple for a first time reader to understand.

In fact it was only after I learned from this book, I understood the principle of electro-magnetic induction!!!

More over the colorful pictures arouse a mood of interest to at least turn the pages of the book.

About the Author
STEPHEN WADE NEBGEN has close to 40 years in the entertainment industry, first as a producer and then becoming an attorney with a specialty in entertainment law. His clients include film, television, and theater companies, musicians, actors, and artists. He counsels clients regarding business formation, intellectual property matters in copyright and trademarks, contract negotiations and other corporate matters. He has also been called upon as an "expert witness" regarding entertainment issues in various litigation matters. He teaches Entertainment Law at a number of universities and colleges and has lectured extensively on Entertainment Law matters at numerous seminars and symposiums. As a producer, among other credits, He was the General Manager at The Lambs Theatre located at 44th Street and Broadway, in NY City. Mr. Nebgen also produced such prominent Off-Broadway plays as the 20th Anniversary Revival of "Fortune and Men's Eyes" and "Bert See's The Light", which featured Jack Black in his New York theatre debut. Mr. Nebgen received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in Religious Studies, graduating summa cum laude. He went on to earn his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law and co-founded The Texas Review of Entertainment and Sports Law. WENDY KEMP AKBAR represents clients in all aspects of intellectual property, particularly patent infringement and invalidity litigation, trademark, trade dress and copyright litigation, Lanham Act, unfair competition, trade secret, false advertising and licensing disputes. In particular, the diffracted rays can enter into the GO shadow as well as the lit regions. Consequently, the diffracted rays entirely account for the fields in the shadow region where the GO rays cannot exist.

A great second handbook

This is a reprint of the first edition. It follows the format of most antenna handbooks. It stands out for its excellent list of references and extensive theory section. Like all handbooks it does not replace a good book on antenna theory and another on antenna measurements.

This book and Johnson and Jasick make a very good set for the antenna engneer's book shelf.

A Must Have for Anyone Seriouly Interested in Skin Care

This book about cosmetic ingredients should benefit anyone with a serious interest in skin care, including dermatologists, cosmetic chemists, aestheticians and keen lay people. The author discusses the research on many ingredients, including some of the most commonly recognized, such as the retinoids, vitamins C and E, aloe, resveratrol (a red wine component), petrolatum, silicones and honey. The text, although unique, is easily understood, and by separating fact from fiction allows insight into cosmeceutical claims. The author's straightforward and unbiased approach toward skin care makes this an excellent reference text. The well-placed overviews, such as those on pigmentation, aging and acne, combined with chapters on, for example, skin structure and cosmetic labeling, lift this text beyond its encyclopedic nature.

The information in the book is rather undetailed. It does, however, cover most of the standard ingredients and gives much interesting stuff to read. In my point of view books in this price category should be a bit thicker than 400 pages; other scientific books I use for my studies are three to five times as thick. Nevertheless I like the book and it does indeed give useful information about cosmetics in general.

This is one of the best-written engineering textbooks I have read as an engineering student. Writing is as easy-to-read without being too casual and covers just enough of the technical information. Examples are relevant to the text.

If it were my choice, I would not teach from this book.

I was the teaching assistant for an introductory Power Systems class last semester that used this book, and I would not recommend it. For starters, this book lays a poor foundation of the basic concepts of three-phase power and complex power. In addition, some sections of the book are VERY confusing, even as some one who already has a degree in the material. Example problems are weak, and the problem solving in the solutions manual (which can be viewed with a quick search of the web) is not straightforward, often employing "cookbook" problem solving methods. The biggest deficiency of this book is it's weak explanation of magnetic circuits.

For electric machines (and magnetic circuit theory), I suggest Electric Machinery by Fitzgerald. For power systems analysis (which this book didn't really go into), I liked Power Systems Analysis and Design by Glover, whose cover Chapman seems to have ripped off. I prefer my old class notes' explanation of the fundamentals of complex power and three-phase power better than either of these, but they are both better than Chapman.

an ok book

So far the book has been ok in my machines and power fundamentals course, mostly though because my instructor is completely useless in this field. Some things I have seen before and the book offers a more thorough explanation of concepts although the approach in the problems is not usually the one most easily seen by me. That being said, I do praise the book for its numerous examples and detail. The Matlab examples don't really make use of its abilities but they're still helpful.

Wow. This book is a real eye opener. I've read my fair share of holocaust stories before, but this is my first time reading about the female guards. I really almost didn't believe it. It's amazing what level of evil that they were capable of. It definitely goes with the saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" because these women don't look like they'd be capable of every thing that they've done. I think that more people need to be made aware of these horrors. I definitely learned a lot while reading this short book. It's a fast read yet very detailed.

Just Don't Buy It

I am an avid reader and researcher of all things WWII and Holocaust. This book, as mentioned by other reviewers, is the epitome of opinion writing with little support. It is repetitive and, frankly, a waste of money. It is also poorly edited. Honestly, I felt like one one my middle school students wrote it, then had another middle school student edit with no adult input.
