MEG: Nightstalkers, by Steve Alten

In this fifth installment of the New York Times bestselling MEG series, Nighstalkers picks up where MEG: Hell's Aquarium left off. Bela and Lizzy, the dominant Megalodon siblings from Angel's brood, have escaped the Tanaka Institute to roam the Salish Sea in British Columbia. While Jonas Taylor and his friend Mac attempt to either recapture or kill the "sisters," Jonas's son, David, embarks on his own adventure, motivated by revenge. Having witnessed his girlfriend's gruesome death, David has joined a Dubai Prince's ocean expedition, tracking the 120-foot, hundred-ton Liopleurodon that escaped from the Panthalassa Sea. Haunted by night terrors, David repeatedly risks his life to lure the Lio and other prehistoric sea creatures into the fleet's nets, while battling his own suicidal demons.

Steve Alten weaves these storylines together in a page-turning thriller that culminates in a final showdown between the most dangerous predators ever to inhabit the planet.

Too many plotlines, but MEG lovers will be satisfied.
By B.Hammond
I've been eagerly waiting for this book since Hell's Aquarium was published, which was my introduction to the MEG universe. Even with the disaster that was Vostok, I excitedly snapped this up as soon as I saw it on Amazon Kindle. When the story focuses on Bela and Lizzy, or David's quest to find the Liopleuridon, the book shines. However, the sequences with Zachary Taylor seemed out of place -- fortunately things don't get as crazy as they did in Vostok, but I still felt all of that detracted from the story. Also, main characters making stupid decisions for the sake of the plot is lame writing -- with the history that has been developed with the Taylors, I can't fathom the rationale for some of the stuff they do here.

Overall I still liked the book, and I'm glad there will be another entry -- just please, keep your time travel and aliens out of my prehistoric shark story Mr. Alten!

You'll love it!
By Shadow
I love this series. When a new book in the series comes out I usually re-read the books from the first one. I couldn't wait to do that this time. I was really excited about this one. Living in the Pacific Northwest I was very curious how it would be part of this new book (and I knew it would). It was fun to read the story and know exactly where things were happening. I always like how there are so many different stories going on with each character and at some point they usually meet up. It's hard to say too much without giving some of the story away so I don't think I'll say much, but it gets very interesting. I sort of thought there was a jump the shark (so to speak) moment but I just went with it. It made me roll my eyes a little. If you liked the other books in this series you'll like this one too. I was wondering what happened to the daughter though? She was mentioned (maybe so we didn't forget about her) but not part of the story. I think she should have been, unless maybe in the next book she'll be a big part of the story. I can see so many stories yet to be told and I really hope we don't have to wait long. No pressure Steve....

Once again author Steve Alten has written an instant classic! The seventh book in the Meg/Loch series is action packed from start to finish! He continues to create terrifying scenerios that will have your heart rate climbing while you find yourself trying to climb out of the water! The book features classic characters Jonas and Terry Taylor along with "Mac" and their son David. The Loch and Vostok's Zachary Wallas also guest stars. Will Jonas and Terry manage to stay together, or will the termoil in their lives tear them apart? What will happen to Bela and Lizzy, sister Megalodons reaking havoc along the coast? What will be the fate of Levyatan Melvilli captured in Antarctica? Find out in the latest masterpiece by author Steve Alten!!
